Islamabad: Jazz, Pakistan‘s top digital operator, and VEON’s leading subsidiary, announced that VEON’s Board of Directors has approved relocating its headquarters from Amsterdam to Dubai, UAE. This move aligns with VEON’s growing operations hub in Dubai, which has been active since early 2022.
By shifting its headquarters to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), VEON will become the largest Nasdaq-listed company headquartered in Dubai, home to Nasdaq Dubai.
Jazz Welcomes VEON’s Strategic Move
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, expressed excitement about the transition, highlighting how it will accelerate Jazz’s enterprise and digital services. “This relocation strengthens Jazz’s ability to leverage Dubai’s role as a global tech hub, driving innovation in connectivity, fintech, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion. The move also boosts our partnerships, access to capital, and talent acquisition, vital for leading Pakistan’s digital transformation,” he said.
A Strategic Shift for VEON
Kaan Terzioglu, Group CEO of VEON, emphasized the strategic importance of relocating to Dubai, citing its proximity to key markets and access to world-class talent. He noted, “This move positions us to capitalize on Dubai’s vast opportunities and enhanced visibility among Gulf investors. It marks a new chapter for VEON as GITEX Global 2024, a premier technology event, kicks off in Dubai.”
Jazz’s Role in Regional Growth
Jazz plays a crucial role in regional digital growth, serving over 71 million subscribers and 43.9 million 4G users nationwide. Its digital verticals – JazzCash, Tamasha, Garaj, and SIMOSA – lead Pakistan’s fintech, entertainment, cloud & cybersecurity, and self-care sectors.
