Karachi: Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized an Iftar program with 150 orphans and disabled children in Karachi, the most populous city of Pakistan, with the participation of nearly 20 NGOs.
According to TIKA Press Release, Eid gift sets were distributed to orphans and disabled children in the program attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori, Republic of Türkiye Karachi Consul General Cemal Sangu, TİKA Karachi Coordinator Halil İbrahim Başaran and representatives of public institutions and NGOs.
In his speech at the program, Governor Tessori emphasized the importance of taking care of orphans and special children and congratulated the Non-Governmental Organizations operating in this regard, and thanked Turkiye for bringing together Pakistan’s special children at the Iftar dinner.
CM Murad Ali Shah expressed his great honor to participate in the program organized by the Consulate General of Turkiye and TİKA and thanked the organizers of the program.
Cemal Sangu, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Karachi, stated that he was very pleased to host the Iftar dinner, he said, ”This sacred month challenges us to live by the highest moral standards, to speak truthfully, act justly, and extend compassion, love, tolerance and help to those in need”.
TİKA Karachi Coordinator Halil İbrahim Başaran stated that NGOs have an important place in social development and that development would be incomplete without NGOs and thanked them for participating in the Iftar dinner with orphans and special children.
The iftar program ended with the distribution of Eid gift sets by the Sindh Chief Minister and the Sindh provincial governor.
Bridge of Abundance from Türkiye to Pakistan
TİKA built a bridge of abundance between Türkiye and Pakistan with its activities during the month of Ramadan. Iftar programs were organized for a total of 500 orphans and special children in Islamabad and Sindh province. Eid sets were also gifted to 500 children who attended the iftar programs, bringing smiles to the faces of the beautiful children.
TİKA served Ramadan tables by providing food aid to a total of 2000 families in the cities of Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Rawalpindi, Kotli, Dadu and Karachi.
