Quetta: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism and counter Indian-sponsored proxy warfare during a joint address to a grand jirga of tribal elders at Zehri Auditorium, Quetta.

The jirga was convened to strengthen engagement with Baloch tribal leadership amid an evolving security landscape, particularly in the context of Indian-backed efforts to destabilize the region.

Indian-Backed Proxies Exposed in Balochistan

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz Sharif said terrorist groups, funded and supported by India—including outfits like “Fitna Al-Hindustan”—were intensifying operations to disrupt peace and development in Balochistan. He warned that such groups aim to exploit local grievances and gain community support, which must be firmly denied.

“Enemies of peace will find no space to operate within Pakistan,” the PM stated. “The government, armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civil administration, backed by the people of Pakistan, will take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion.”

He praised tribal elders for their pivotal role in preserving national unity and stressed the importance of grassroots-level engagement to deny terrorists social space. The premier also called for development initiatives to benefit ordinary citizens and ensure lasting peace.

COAS Vows Decisive Action Against Terrorists

COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir declared that India’s role in fuelling proxy warfare in Balochistan is now an “open act of terrorism.” He stated that the Pakistan Army has “concrete evidence” of Indian involvement in destabilizing the province.

“The Pakistan Army, supported by the nation and the brave Baloch people, will confront and crush every enemy—foreign or domestic—that challenges our sovereignty,” he said.

He emphasized that peace in Balochistan is non-negotiable, and the region’s stability is directly linked to Pakistan’s national progress.

National Unity and Development Prioritized

Both leaders lauded the bravery and sacrifices of the security forces and law enforcement agencies operating in Balochistan. PM Shehbaz Sharif assured the families of martyrs that the state would provide full support and vowed that all terrorists, facilitators, and abettors would be held accountable.

The jirga concluded with a unanimous pledge from tribal elders to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Government of Pakistan and the Armed Forces in safeguarding Balochistan’s security, stability, and development.

PM Addresses Officers at Command and Staff College

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Command and Staff College Quetta, where he addressed student officers and faculty members. He emphasized the importance of professional excellence, operational readiness, and strategic foresight in confronting hybrid and regional threats, especially in sensitive regions like Balochistan.
