Karachi: Bank Alfalah has teamed up with Cancer Foundation Hospital to help women fighting breast cancer. Along with Roche Pakistan, the bank has donated PKR 10.75 million. This will cover medication and free treatment for five patients, ensuring they get full care.
Affordable Cancer Care for All
Cancer Foundation Hospital offers affordable cancer care to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. The hospital has a modern 100-bed facility and provides services like diagnostics, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. They also offer emotional and psychological support for patients.
Addressing Pakistan’s Breast Cancer Crisis
Pakistan has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in Asia, with over 10 million women at risk. Each year, around 90,000 new cases are reported, resulting in 40,000 deaths. Despite these numbers, only 25–30% of women know about early detection methods like self-exams or mammography.
Bank Alfalah’s Commitment
Mehreen Ahmed, Group Head of Retail Banking at Bank Alfalah, said: “We aim to support women battling breast cancer. Financial barriers should never prevent access to life-saving treatment.”
Roche Pakistan’s GM, Hafa Shamsie, noted: “Through our Patient Support Program and partnerships, we’ve provided free breast cancer treatment to thousands of women across Pakistan.”
Pinktober Awareness Campaign
Bank Alfalah has also launched Pinktober sessions in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum, Chughtai Lab, and the Samina Alvi Foundation. These sessions aim to educate women about early detection. The first event took place on October 8, 2024, at the bank’s head office in Karachi, featuring medical experts and representatives from the Samina Alvi Foundation.
In support of the cause, Bank Alfalah’s Head Office has been lit up in pink for the month of October.
Commitment to CSR
Bank Alfalah remains dedicated to corporate social responsibility, especially in healthcare. This partnership and awareness campaign reflect the bank’s efforts to improve community well-being across Pakistan.
