Karachi: A four-day training workshop on “Maritime Economy: Challenges and Opportunities” successfully concluded at Bahria University Karachi, highlighting key issues and opportunities in Pakistan’s growing maritime sector.
Organized by the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) in collaboration with Team Balochistan, the event brought together maritime experts, academicians, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country. The workshop focused on strengthening maritime education, blue economy development, and sustainable policy frameworks to harness Pakistan’s untapped coastal potential.
The closing ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral (Retd) Ahmed Saeed HI(M) as the Chief Guest and Ms. Nadra Panjwani HI, SI as Guest of Honor. Renowned speakers including Dr. Nazia Sher, Dr. Shahid Amjad, and Mr. M.H. Lodhi led sessions on key themes such as workforce development, maritime trade, and environmental sustainability.
Participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their active engagement and commitment to maritime learning. The workshop served as a platform for dialogue and strategy-building for future maritime initiatives in Pakistan.
The event reaffirmed the importance of the maritime economy in national growth and emphasized the need for integrated efforts to turn Pakistan into a regional maritime hub.
