Islamabad: Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), met with Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, to review preparations for the upcoming Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and Pakistan Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa.
The events are scheduled to take place from May 15 to May 17, 2025, and aim to strengthen bilateral economic ties and enhance Pakistan’s outreach under the “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policy.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the ongoing arrangements and welcomed the enthusiastic response from Pakistani traders and investors. This strong participation is the result of a joint mobilization effort by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the Government of Pakistan.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal extended a formal invitation to Ambassador Hamid to attend the High-Level Business Forum: Invest in Ethiopia, scheduled for May 12–13, 2025, in Addis Ababa. He stated that the Single Country Exhibition would mark a new milestone in Pakistan-Ethiopia trade relations, offering substantial opportunities for long-term commercial partnerships.
“The Ethiopian government and business community are fully prepared to host the Pakistani delegation,” said Dr. Jemal, adding that the exhibition will serve as a platform to explore new trade avenues between the two brotherly nations.
He also highlighted the successful launch of Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan, calling it a vital enabler for deeper business and diplomatic engagement.
Ambassador Hamid praised Dr. Jemal’s dynamic role in engaging Pakistan’s business community. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Look Africa and Engage Africa initiative, under which Ethiopia has been selected to host this year’s flagship exhibition.
