Karachi: Herman Hardynata Ahmad, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi held a grand dinner reception at Marriott Hotel to mark the 67th Anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence (National Day). The event was graced by the Honourable Governor of Sindh, Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori, as the Chief Guest. Attendees included Malaysians residing in Karachi, members of the diplomatic community, government officials, and prominent friends of Malaysia.
In his welcoming remarks, Herman Hardynata Ahmad, the Consul General of Malaysia expressed deep gratitude to the distinguished guests for attending this significant celebration. He emphasized the strong friendship and bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, reaffirming the commitment to furthering cooperation across various sectors.
A major announcement during the event was the opening of Malaysia’s trade office in Karachi, set to begin operations in October 2024. This new office will boost trade, investment, and business opportunities, marking a milestone in Malaysia-Pakistan economic collaboration.
Adding a cultural touch, students from the Sindh Pencak Silat Association performed Silat, a traditional martial art popular in Southeast Asia. The performance highlighted Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, enhancing the evening’s celebratory atmosphere.
The event concluded with attendees enjoying the hospitality of the Malaysian Consulate, celebrating the shared values of friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan.
