Dubai: Dubai has once again claimed the title of the world’s cleanest city, according to the latest Global Power City Index (GPCI) report from the Institute for Urban Strategies at Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Dubai has secured the top spot globally for city cleanliness, solidifying its status as a model of sustainable urban development.
The achievement highlights Dubai’s unwavering commitment to setting international benchmarks for urban living and environmental excellence. Outshining more than 47 cities worldwide, Dubai received 100% satisfaction in the city cleanliness metric, part of the environment pillar in the GPCI—one of the key criteria for evaluating global city strength.
This recognition reflects the efforts of Dubai Municipality, which collaborates with both public and private sector partners to implement integrated strategies that promote sustainability. These initiatives align with the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041, which aims for an 18% reduction in waste production and the 100% diversion of waste from landfills by 2041.
His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, expressed that this consistent leadership is driven by Dubai’s vision to be the world’s best city to live and work. He highlighted the role of teamwork, dedication, and commitment to excellence in achieving global benchmarks for future cities.

Dubai Municipality’s cleanliness teams, consisting of over 3,200 professionals, ensure the city maintains its impeccable standards.
