Karachi: The Human Settlement Authority (HSA) and The Citizens Foundation (TCF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting quality education in Sindh’s underprivileged areas. The agreement was signed by HSA Director General Engineer Kashif Khan and TCF CEO Syed Zia Akhter Abbas during a ceremony held at TCF’s head office.
The initiative is part of HSA’s efforts, under its Act and regulations, to support the construction of schools in informal settlements (katchi abadis) across Sindh. The collaboration is expected to provide free education to children from low-income families in these areas.
Chairman of the Human Settlement Authority, Syed Najmi Alam, praised TCF’s longstanding commitment to improving education for underserved communities. He stated that this partnership would help deliver quality learning opportunities in neglected parts of the province, enabling disadvantaged students to build brighter futures.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Secretary Shariq Ahmed, Agha Saeed Ahmed (Focal Person to the Provincial Advisor on Katchi Abadis), and other senior officials.
This landmark agreement marks a significant step toward inclusive education and social development in Sindh’s urban slums.
