Beijing: On Wednesday evening, nearly 6,000 people attended a grand cultural celebration commemorating the 80th anniversary of China’s victory against Japanese aggression and the global fight against fascism.
The event, held at the Great Hall of the People, was attended by top Chinese leaders including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng. Before the ceremony, Xi Jinping and other officials met with war veterans who had contributed to China’s resistance during World War II.
In a separate military ceremony, President Xi Jinping, also Chairman of the Central Military Commission, signed a decree recognizing and honoring all military personnel who participated in the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of victory.
Titled “Victory of Justice”, the event showcased the historic struggle of the Chinese people against Japanese aggression and highlighted the Communist Party of China’s central role in leading the resistance. The ceremony celebrated the courage of the Chinese population and underscored the unbreakable spirit of the Chinese nation, widely admired around the world.
Meanwhile, in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that agreements reached during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) 2025 Summit will create favorable opportunities for Iran in economy, security, science, and tourism. Speaking upon his return to Tehran, Pezeshkian highlighted the SCO Plus discussions on rights-based peace and justice, noting China’s proposals for a global order based on truth, fairness, and equality, with a rejection of double standards.
President Pezeshkian also pointed to 24 joint documents aimed at increasing cooperation among SCO member states in security, economy, and public engagement, stating that the most significant outcome of the visit was the opportunity for direct dialogue with the leaders of participating countries.
