Karachi: German Consul General in Karachi Thomas E. Schultze, in a message marking the 35th anniversary of German Unity, emphasized the enduring values of unity, resilience, and cooperation while underscoring Germany’s growing partnership with Pakistan.
Schultze said the lessons of Germany’s reunification remain relevant today, showing that divided societies can overcome adversity through solidarity and mutual respect. He added that the same spirit guides Germany’s engagement with Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, which he described as a hub of innovation, enterprise, and cultural vitality.
Germany is Pakistan’s largest trading partner within the European Union, with bilateral trade reaching €3.3 billion in 2023. Schultze noted that cooperation already spans Pakistan’s globally recognized sectors, including textiles, leather goods, sports equipment, and medical instruments. He highlighted the longstanding role of German companies in Pakistan, contributing to job creation, workplace standards, healthcare, vocational training, and sustainability.
Looking ahead, the consul general stressed opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy, digital innovation, sustainable industry, and advanced manufacturing. He said realizing this potential requires transparent regulations, predictable policies, and a stable business environment.
“I am confident that by working together, we can not only expand bilateral trade, but also deepen the broader partnership that connects our nations based on economic, cultural, and human ties,” Schultze said. He added that Karachi will remain central to Germany’s engagement with Pakistan and called on business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to join in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future.
