Karachi: Renowned architect and Chairman of KHA Business and International Relations, Kafeel Hussain, hosted a grand farewell ceremony in honour of the Consul General of Turkey, Dr. Cemal Sangu. The event brought together leading diplomats, businessmen, and intellectuals, celebrating the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and Turkey.
Among the distinguished guests were prominent businessman Kaleem Farooqui, former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Majeed Aziz, Foreign Minister Irfan Soomro, Consul Generals of Oman, Germany, Malaysia, and Indonesia, along with representatives of the UAE and Qatar. Honorary Consul General of Morocco Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Honorary Consul General of Jordan Yousef Farrukh, Brigadier Haris Nawaz, Dr. Zahid Hassan Ansari, Athar Iqbal, Nadeem Maazji, members of FPCCI, social activists, and intellectuals also attended.
Speaking on the occasion, Kafeel Hussain praised Dr. Cemal Sangu’s services, noting his significant role in strengthening Pakistan-Turkey ties. “This event is our recognition of his contributions, and we hope he will always consider Pakistan as his second home,” he said.
Dr. Cemal Sangu expressed gratitude and highlighted the centuries-old friendship between the two nations. “Pakistan is my second home, and the love, sincerity, and hospitality of its people will always remain with me. Turkey will continue to stand by Pakistan,” he remarked.
Business leader Kaleem Farooqui and former KCCI president Majeed Aziz lauded Kafeel Hussain’s efforts in building business and diplomatic bridges worldwide, while Director Regulatory Affairs of KHA, Ali Haider, thanked participants for making the event memorable.
The ceremony featured a soulful Sufi Sama performance, cake-cutting, and a dinner, showcasing Pakistan’s traditional hospitality. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a commemorative shield by Foreign Minister Irfan Soomro to the outgoing Consul General.
