Karachi: Bank Alfalah Limited, a major bank in Pakistan, has teamed up with UnionPay International to issue new PayPak co-badge debit cards. This partnership brings the first UnionPay co-badge platinum debit card to the market. The card offers customers special benefits in 183 countries through UnionPay’s global network.
Atif Bajwa, CEO of Bank Alfalah, and James Yang, General Manager of UnionPay International, signed the agreement in Istanbul, Turkey. Key leaders from both groups attended the event, including Mehreen Ahmed, Head of Retail Banking, and Nadeem Haroon, Country Manager for Pakistan.
Mehreen Ahmed said, “We are excited to partner with UnionPay International. This new card will allow our customers to make transactions worldwide and set a new standard in the industry.”
James Yang added, “This partnership will make it easier for customers to use their cards internationally. The UPI/PayPak co-badge Platinum Debit Card will offer smooth and easy transactions.”
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) wants banks to introduce co-badge cards to increase financial inclusion. This partnership supports SBP’s vision and shows Bank Alfalah’s dedication to offering new products. By using UnionPay’s network, the bank aims to give customers more financial freedom and grow its presence in the market.
