Karachi: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Balochistan Board of Investment & Trade (BBoIT) will co-host the Balochistan Summit 2025 on January 27-28, 2025, in Islamabad. The summit aims to promote business, investment, industrialization, and trade activities in Balochistan on a global scale.
High-Level Participation Expected
The event is expected to attract top civilian and military leadership, spotlighting Balochistan as Pakistan’s premier investment destination.
Focus on Industrialization and Economic Growth
FPCCI President Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized the need for special government attention to Balochistan, including:
- Tax and duty waivers.
- Establishment and operationalization of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
- Creation of the Bank of Balochistan for business financing.
- Improved law and order to foster economic activities.
Collaboration for Broader Participation
Mr. Bilal Khan Kakar, Vice Chairman of BBoIT, highlighted that FPCCI’s involvement brings the support of Pakistan’s entire business, industry, and trade community, including its 284 chambers, trade bodies, and associations.
Call for Dedicated Banking and Insurance Services
- Mr. Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President FPCCI, called for the establishment of the Bank of Balochistan, similar to provincial banks in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to address financing gaps.
- Mr. Nasir Khan, Vice President FPCCI from Balochistan, stressed the need for an insurance company to ensure traders, industrialists, and investors feel secure operating in the region. He proposed a public-private partnership model for creating a thriving business ecosystem.
Support for SMEs and MSMEs
Mian Zahid Hussain, Chairman FPCCI-PAB, urged protection for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and cottage industries to sustain Balochistan’s economy and create employment opportunities.
Marketing Balochistan for Investment
Mr. Ahmed Chinoy, senior FPCCI member and former CPLC Chief, called for an extensive marketing and public relations campaign to attract domestic and foreign direct investment (FDI). He assured FPCCI’s support to the government and armed forces in providing safety and security for investors.
Resilient People of Balochistan
The participants acknowledged the resilience of Balochistan’s people in maintaining economic activities despite challenges.
The summit aims to pave the way for sustainable economic growth in Balochistan, ensuring that its untapped potential contributes significantly to Pakistan’s economy.
