Karachi (Staff Reporter)
Leader of Pakistan People’s Party and former Deputy Speaker Senate, Saleem Mandviwala has said that people in our country only work on treatment, they do not pay attention to precautions. While the former Federal Health Minister, Zafar Mirza has said that the government should have taken better measures to improve Pakistan’s health situation. He expressed these views at the annual fundraising event organized by SHINE Humanity, an NGO providing free primary healthcare to underserved communities in Pakistan. Dr. Salman Naqvi, Founder of SHINE Humanity, Dr. Asghar Naqvi, Board Member, Chairman Kalbe Abbas, COO Faheem Khan, Executive Director Naila Ahmed, Public Health Specialist Dr. Farwa, and Marketing Associate Hareem Baig and others also spoke on this occasion. Saleem Mandviwala said that people are more sick in our country compared to other countries around the world, and that we should take precautionary measures in terms of food and drink, because the root of the problem is that we only work on treatment and not on prevention. Zafar Mirza commended the work of SHINE regarding the health situation in Pakistan, and mentioned that not only other institutions, but the government of Pakistan also needs to learn from such institutions. On this occasion, Dr. Asghar Naqvi, Board Member of SHINE Humanity said that SHINE has been working in areas of Sindh for the last 10 years where other organizations work very little. He said that with this, we are not only collecting electronic data of diseases but also identifying the proportion of diseases in the areas, and what measures are necessary for it. Speaking at the event, Sarwar Peshimam, President of Rotary Club Sunset Platinum, said that SHINE Humanity is doing very important work, and that health figures from our country are very shocking.
