Islamabad: A grand reception was held in Islamabad to mark the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) 53rd National Day, “Eid Al Etihad,” celebrating decades of progress and a strong partnership between the two nations.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, members of the diplomatic community, and senior government officials.

The gathering celebrated the UAE’s remarkable achievements over the past five decades and its enduring friendship with Pakistan. The reception highlighted the historic bond between the two nations, built on shared values, mutual respect, and cooperation.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The event showcased the close ties between Pakistan and the UAE, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, information technology, and tourism. Guests praised the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE and the mutual efforts to foster regional development.

President Zardari’s Speech

Addressing the gathering, President Asif Ali Zardari underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the UAE. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in key areas, such as the Pakistan Stock Exchange, renewable energy, and other investment opportunities.

He noted that Pak-UAE ties had flourished into a strategic partnership, with the UAE being one of Pakistan’s largest investors and an essential economic partner. “The recent agreements in maritime, logistics, and aviation reflect the UAE’s confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential,” he said.

President Zardari also paid tribute to the UAE’s leadership for transforming the country into a global hub for trade and tourism and expressed gratitude for its unwavering support during Pakistan’s difficult times.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Remarks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the UAE’s progress under the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his son, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He acknowledged the UAE’s critical role in supporting Pakistan, including assistance during the recent IMF agreement.

The prime minister expressed optimism for further strengthening ties and appreciated the reopening of visa facilities for Pakistanis, which he said would deepen people-to-people connections.

UAE Ambassador’s Vision

UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi highlighted the enduring brotherhood between the two nations. He emphasized opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and agriculture, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to expanding its partnership with Pakistan.

Celebrating Unity and Progress
