Karachi: The Japan Film Festival 2024 was inaugurated at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi in collaboration with the Pakistan Japan Culture Association (PJCA) Sindh and the Arts Council. This annual event, organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi and the Japan Foundation, celebrates Japanese cinema and culture in Pakistan.
Screening of Japanese Films at the Festival
The festival opened with the screening of Brave Father Online: Our Story of Final Fantasy XIV, a heartwarming story that explores the bond between a Japanese father and son through video gaming. The event attracted a wide audience eager to experience Japanese art and storytelling.
This year, three acclaimed Japanese films will be featured at various venues across Sindh during September and October. In addition to Brave Father Online: Our Story of Final Fantasy XIV, audiences can enjoy Princess Arete and Round Trip Heart, offering a diverse cinematic experience.
Remarks by the Consul General of Japan
Mr. HATTORI Masaru, Consul General of Japan in Karachi, addressed the audience during the inauguration ceremony. He discussed the central themes of the film and expressed his delight at the large turnout. He noted the growing interest in Japanese arts and cinema within Pakistan.
The Japan Film Festival aims to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Pakistan, providing local audiences with an opportunity to explore Japanese culture through cinema.
