Karachi: Meta has expanded its Teen Accounts feature to Facebook and Messenger users in Pakistan, a year after first introducing the safety tool on Instagram.
The company announced that it has already placed hundreds of millions of young users worldwide into Teen Accounts on Instagram, and the protections are now being rolled out globally on Facebook and Messenger, including in Pakistan, starting this week.
Teen Accounts are designed to address parents’ top concerns by automatically limiting who teens can interact with online, restricting exposure to sensitive content, and encouraging healthier time spent on the platforms.
“While there’s always more work to be done, Teen Accounts are helping provide parents greater peace of mind when it comes to their children’s online experiences,” Meta said in a statement.
Under the new policy, both new and existing teen users of Facebook and Messenger in Pakistan will automatically be placed into Teen Accounts. Meta added that it remains committed to building additional tools to protect young people across its platforms.
