Karachi: The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi conducted a working visit to Sukkur, Sindh’s third-largest city, on 26–27 August 2025 to promote the upcoming Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025, scheduled for 15–19 October in BSD City, Indonesia.
During a meeting with the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), Dr. Ahmad Syofian, Economic Consul, emphasized that TEI 2025 will showcase more than 1,460 exhibitors across diverse sectors. “This year’s TEI offers a golden opportunity for Sukkur’s business community to directly engage with Indonesian companies. The Consulate General will also arrange B2B meetings and Business Matching sessions before departure and during the event in Jakarta, ensuring concrete trade outcomes,” Dr. Syofian noted.
Several Sukkur businessmen expressed strong interest in joining the Pakistan Delegation to TEI 2025. SCCI Vice President Ameet Kumar highlighted that participation would diversify and strengthen Sukkur’s business landscape, adding: “We believe this event will bring new opportunities from Indonesia that can be developed and implemented in Sukkur.”
The Consulate’s Economic Team also visited ICON Mall by Ghouris, one of Sukkur’s largest supermarkets owned by former SCCI President Aamir Ghouri. The Consulate pledged to facilitate connections between Karachi and Sukkur businesses with Indonesian suppliers, enabling a wider variety of Indonesian consumer products to reach the Sukkur market.
This visit underscores the proactive role of the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi in advancing economic diplomacy and strengthening Indonesia–Pakistan trade relations, particularly with Sindh Province. The initiative is expected to generate new business opportunities and reinforce Indonesia’s position as one of Pakistan’s key trading partners.
