16 college teams compete in Jinnah
Government Boys College’s tournament
celebrating Independence Day with unity

Karachi: The Independence Day Marka-e-Haq Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, organized by Jinnah Government Boys College, has officially begun, bringing together 16 college teams in a spirited celebration of sports and patriotism.
The tournament was inaugurated at Jinnah Cricket Ground by Director Colleges Karachi Region, Professor Qazi Arshad Hussain Siddiqui, who bowled the ceremonial first ball. In the opening match, Jinnah Government College secured a 13-run victory over Shipowner Government College.
Principal of Jinnah College, Professor Kamran Kazmi, said that along with academics, it is essential to provide students with opportunities for healthy extracurricular activities. Players and organizers echoed this sentiment, stating that Independence Day celebrations are being made more vibrant with sporting events that inspire enthusiasm and passion.
Special guest Director General Colleges Sindh, Dr. Naveed Rab, praised the initiative, calling the promotion of healthy activities in educational institutions “a welcome step” and acknowledging efforts to provide such opportunities despite limited resources. Dr. Rab also distributed prizes among standout players.
The tournament will continue until August 16, featuring competitive matches among 16 participating college teams from across Karachi.
