Youth showcase talent in badminton
table tennis, cycling, and taekwondo as
celebrations continue towards August 14

Karachi: Exciting competitions of the Jashn-e-Marka-e-Haq Jashn-e-Azadi Sports Festival are in full swing at Naya Nazimabad, where youth from across Karachi are showcasing their sports skills and expressing love for the country.
In badminton, Usman Ahmed clinched the men’s title by defeating Zeeshan 21-4 and 21-8 at Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana. In the women’s final, Fatima Iqbal triumphed over Tahir Batool 15-8, while Ashfa Fatima secured third place by beating Ayesha Yasir.
The table tennis title went to Anas Siddiqui, who overcame Irtaza Haider in the final. In the girls’ category, Ayesha Yasir won against Ajwa Khan. The cycling race saw Azan Ali take first place, followed by Hassan Jilani in second and Muhammad Haseeb in third. In the girls’ race, Anaya Muzaffar emerged champion, with Fatima Salman and Sidra Shahid taking second and third place respectively.
Special guest and Gymkhana Manager Altaf Hussain distributed medals and certificates to the winners. The audience applauded impressive taekwondo performances by boys and girls aged between five and fifteen.
The upcoming schedule includes football, archery, and boxing competitions on Sunday, August 10, along with an Azadi Walk at 5 pm. On August 13, a showbiz cricket tournament, a grand concert, and a fireworks display will take place. Independence Day, August 14, will begin with a flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by squash, swimming, and cricket competitions. The festival will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony honoring top athletes of the event.
