Karachi: First Lady and Member of the National Assembly, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, held a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott at Bilawal House, Karachi. The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, including education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and youth development.
Discussion on Bilateral Cooperation and Global Peace
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in the social sector. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari appreciated the UK’s ongoing support in Pakistan’s development initiatives, particularly those targeting vulnerable communities.
She also praised the stance of British Prime Minister on the Gaza situation, calling it “commendable” and expressed the need for promoting peace globally. “Peacebuilding is essential for a stable and just world,” she emphasized.
Senior Officials Join Meeting
British Deputy High Commissioner Lance Domm and Political Advisor to the High Commissioner Huda Ikram accompanied Jane Marriott during the meeting.
From Pakistan, Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho, MNA Shazia Marri, and MPA Qasim Soomro were also present, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening ties between the UK and Pakistan, particularly in areas impacting social welfare.

The visit underscored the strong diplomatic relationship between the United Kingdom and Pakistan, highlighting shared goals in advancing healthcare, education reforms, and youth-led initiatives. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their collaboration on sustainable development and community empowerment projects.
